DONning in LonDON : Part-2

So we are back again...and what we are doing this time....well I am packing bags for London...some important stuff that one should put in that really comes handy are these :
1. Universal socket: The socket slots in UK are not round as we have in India. They are of rectangle shape and hence you will need this converter more than ever.
2. Umbrella: London rain is like Mumbai rain..it has no time...thus it is always handy to take your umbrella with you. You can purchase it there also but it will cost you 8-10 GBP.
3. Ready to eat food especially if you are vegetarian.

All packed up and good to go we boarded our Air India flight. From India to London is a good 8-10 hours flight. Direct flights always cost more than the ones with in-between stop. one can choose either of them based on his/her budget. One can get a round trip ticket for as low as INR 36K, not so pricy right ;). In-flight amenities include Cocktail and Mocktail drinks, lunch, dinner etc.

We landed in Heathrow London at around 7pm in the evening. The best economical way to travel to London city from airport is by Tube/London Underground. For going from London to Waterloo area you have to board train on Piccadilly line destined to Cockfosters. You have to get down at Green Park station and from there board Jubilee line towards Stratford. You will reach Waterloo. The best thing about London is that its very informative in the sense that you will find directions and signages at every nook and corner. Follow them and you will never get lost.

Our hotel Travelodge was about 800m from Waterloo station. Walking is the most fun way to reach it. On the way, there is Tesco Express from which you can get daily use products (and chocolates for returning gifts).

This is all for this post. In part 3 we will talk about London to Basingstoke and about tourist spots like London Eye, Madame Tussaud's etc. Hope you are enjoying this journey with me. Share your views in the comments section.
